About Us
Welcome to Dice & Balls CIC – a non-profit registered Community Interest Company that’s all about creating inclusive and fun experiences for the benefit of the local community.
As the name suggests, there are two sides to our company.
- Dice – We run board game and Role Playing Game (RPG) events. Our focus here is to help those who may feel socially isolated – whether because of social anxiety, learning difficulties, neurodivergent conditions, or simply because they’re new to the area and don’t know anyone yet. Our events are for everyone who want to connect with others.
- Balls – We run circus skills workshops which enable people, whatever their age, background or ability, to do amazing things, building their confidence and creating a real sense of achievement in the process. Our workshops are designed to help the participants discover their inner performer and explore their creativity.
We are dedicated to providing a communal space in the heart of Arnold, Nottingham where everyone can gather to play games and connect in a friendly, relaxed, and fully inclusive setting
In a recent study, 1 in 20 people reported that they felt lonely most or all of the time. Severe loneliness has been linked to severe health conditions such as dementia and also mental health issues like stress, anxiety, and depression We hope that our Hub will support those that are struggling with this, often hidden, issue.
We organize a diverse range of events throughout the week, while also allowing individuals or groups to drop in anytime to enjoy a broad selection of games. By operating on a donation basis, we ensure that cost is not a barrier to participation, making our space accessible to all.
At Dice and Balls, we believe that board games are wonderful catalyst for social interaction. When a group of people sit around a table, they talk, create memories, laugh and have fun together. Board games offer a structured platform for interaction, provide a common topic for conversation and ensure inclusivity. Cooperative board games, in particular, allow a group to collaborate together to achieve a shared goal.
But our commitment doesn’t stop there. We donate games and group experiences to good causes in the area, and we plan to organize regular special events throughout the year to aid local charities, particularly those catering to groups vulnerable to loneliness, such as the elderly, individuals with neurodivergent conditions, single parents, members of the LGBTQ+ community, low-income families, and more. This initiative is aimed at extending our support to these communities, providing opportunities for engagement and connection.
Dice and Balls is a project built out of our passion for, and love of, Arnold and the surrounding area. We are both long-time residents of Arnold and we currently don’t personally benefit financially from the company, both of us working in other jobs to support ourselves and our families. Our primary focus is to create a supportive and enriching environment for the community we feel blessed and honoured to be in a position serve.
